I'm kind of excited. I made my first avatar, a red quill pen writing on a sheet of paper, and it looks pretty good. Sure, real artists probably wouldn't be thrilled with it, but for a first avatar, considering how little I draw, especially on the computer, I'm happy. At least I'm pretty sure you can't mistake it for something else.
A couple other accomplishments recently: Firstly, I wrote my first piece in forever. That would be Face to Face with the Enemy in my gallery. I'll probably submit more over time, thanks to the reviews I've gotten for this one. At first, I thought it was awful. There was so much to edit and I couldn't because I had a deadline for a contest. My mind's changed now, thanks to the encouragement of a friend of mine who ran the contest and from my parents, who convinced me to let them see it. Everyone else who knows me seems to think it was amazing, though I know what could be better about it. Makes me wish I'd spent more time writing.
And, for my next trick, I've joined NaNoWriMo, more information at [link] I took too long to think it over, so now I've got a bunch of words to catch up on before I'm on schedule, but I think I'll catch up before the month is over. Then it's a matter of keeping up with the daily quota of roughly 1700 words. I realize it's not a matter of writing 50,000 words by the end of the month, it's a matter of just writing, but I hope I get there anyway. I've already caught up over two days' worth by now.
